excellent, bright, colourful handknits for kids and mums.
original colourful designs for experienced intarsia knitters.i have knitted all the designs in this book in the stated yarns.most of the medium sized kids designs took 3-5days.the adult star and bobbles took me just under 14 days, as a lot of ends needed sewing in.not a book to buy unless you are able to knit with lots of different balls of wool on each row of knitting.brilliant for bright knitted kids wear.

The Complete Book of Baton Twirling
Published in Hardcover by Doubleday (May, 1978)
Author: Fred W. Miller
Average review score:

very, very complete
This book is very complete, and have easy to follow instructions and pictures. It starts out with beginning lessons and meneuvers, which prepare you for the upcoming intermediate and advanced. The book includes sample routines, tips, body work, two and three baton lessons, and What you need to know for competitions. It also has definitions of certain types of competitions, and how to start your own twirling group, or teach. I give it a 9, because It is very close to perfect, and I was impressed. But, since it is an older book, a couple(very few) advanced twirls that are new, are not in there. This didn't really bother me at purchasing, because it has so much to offer, and if you can do the twirls in this book, you can pretty much (with practice) get the newer twirls down pat. I recommend greatly, It has helped me grow from a clueless beginner to a solid intermediate, and I even have more of an idea of how to make up routines and move my unused arm, and legs gracefully, and professionally.

The Complete Gospels : Annotated Scholars Version (Revised & expanded)
Published in Hardcover by Polebridge Press (November, 1994)
Author: Robert J. Miller
Average review score:

Extremely Helpful
This collection of early Christian gospels is one of the many that I own, and definitely one of the best. The collection includes narrative gospels, sayings gospels, infancy gospels, fragmentary gospels, Jewish-Christian gospels, as well as "orphan" sayings and studies. Also included is extremely helpful commentary that provides context and explanation for often hard-to-understand verses. Considering the fact that the gospels were often written specifically for communities that would know exactly what they were talking about, some explanation is often needed. Illustrations and cameo essays are included that give a more complete view of the more important concepts and historical points. The titles of narrative segments in the margins of the pages are inmeasurably helpful when attempting to compare/contrast or to find a specific passage. The book gives a remarkably complete view of early Christian thought, Gnostic, Jewish Christian, and otherwise. The only complaint I can think of is that the title "The Complete Gospels"-- is not entirely accurate, it is not a COMPLETE collection, though it does include all of the gospels that are really important (the ones that are not included are either too hypothetical, too obscure, redundant, etc.) I like the translation, even if it at first seems different from other translations, certainly very different from the KJV or the NIV. It is not very poetic, but very focused on exact translation, both word-for-word and original meaning. One example of this is the constant translation of the usual "Kingdom of God" phrase as "The Imperial Rule of God"-- something that can convey both the original meaning as well as keeping the phrase somewhat intact. Where these two cannot be reconciled, there is usually a footnote that elaborates on the original context/meaning/words/etc. The book itself contains most everything that one needs to understand not only the canonical gospels but the first years of the religion itself. It gives you a clear picture, if not of Jesus, than Christianity in its early expansion (from around 50 C.E.-the second century.) And just for that alone it deserves five stars.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Fixing Your #$% PC (Complete Idiot's Guide To...)

Great essential book
Excellent book for beginner to pro! This book makes it easy to keep your PC running healthy and troubleshoot potential problems.
I have Troubleshooting, Mainaining & Repairing PCs by Bigelow. I came to a couple conclusions:
1. I am not likely to upgrade, repair or physically install components. Therefore, I do not need a book about upgrading or installing.
2. I would rather keep this paperback on my desk, instead of Bigelow's Hardcover, 1000+ pages.
Enjoy the book. I hope it is as helpful to you as it is to me.

Complete Idiot's Guide to Online Auctions (Complete Idiot's Guides)

Will Help Alleviate Most Fears About Online Auctions!
The Internet has opened up many wonderful opportunities for people to buy and sell merchandise and services online. It has become possible to make major purchases of common everyday items as well as buying those hard-to-find and hard-to-get ones! Within this last year the Internet has become the home of another traditional form of buying - auctioning. It is now possible for you to bid on those things that you and others are looking for in life from the convenience of your home or office.

Michael Miller has written a great online book, The Complete Idiot's Guide to Online Auctions, to help acquaint members of the online community with the pros and cons of the online auctioning business. While at first one may ponder experiencing the thrill of biding for something online, Miller points out that there are many precautions people should take before getting involved with this form of online buying. There are many people operating online behind the scenes to capitalize on the misfortunes of others through willful deceit. Online auctioning is not child's play! It requires a disciplined approach and Miller offers his readers plenty of thoughtful instruction.

Miller offers a wealth of information, including listings of the most popular auction Websites online to date that cover a variety of purchase items, including the much heralded eBay site. In fact, Miller treats his readers to a considerable amount of attention to this one site that currently ranks at the top of them all. Readers will learn how these auction Websites work and how they can best benefit from them. He also helps readers new to online auctioning by clearing up some of the common misconceptions they may have about online auctioning and points out many of the pitfalls they must avoid. Be wise with your public image and money - heed his advice!

Readers should carefully consider Miller's advice on bid and placement timing, auctioning techniques, specific procedures to follow, how to avoid being duped or taken advantage of by online scam artists, sales tax information, using credit cards to make online purchases, user warrantees, return policies, and other important purchasing considerations. This book makes an excellent companion to Preston Gralla's The Complete Idiot's Guide to Online Shopping. Both are great books to have on hand!

Miller offers an easily readable treatment on joining the online auctioning scene. This method of making purchases can be fun and profitable for those who adequately prepare ahead of time. He will help those readers wary of this fairly recent Web development by exposing many of the risks involved. Readers will gain great insight on how to save time and money. They will also feel at ease after reading this book. It will help alleviate most of the fears they may have.

The coaching offered in this book is top-notch. It's great for those wishing to participate in the buying and selling of items online through this highly visible form of marketing. Highly recommended for those persons conducting a business such as selling antiques and other collectibles!

Excellent guide to find what you're looking for on the net
I'm a veteran Internet user, and have been using search engines & other tools for quite a few years now. I rather frequently (by my better friends) have people ask me to look for things on the net for them, which I like to do in my spare time.

I had originally bought this book for my Father who is just starting to get online and really use the web - the book looked quite good for the introductory user. He was asking me how to look for things online, and I'd make some basic reccomendations (i.e. "check yahoo and then check ...". However after I had bought him the book he was telling me about new search engines I hadn't tried before and using great (off the beaten path) sites I use but never told him about. I was immediately suspicious.

While I was home for Christmas this year (Dec,99) I started reading the guide and was finding all kinds of accurate & useful information it's taken me years to learn. Wow this book has a lot of great hints on really finding what you want, it's very updated. It also does a good job of explaining how things work underneath so you know enough to figure it out on your own later. Excellent book for new & veteran users alike. This is worth the cover price just in the time you'll save searching in the first month alone. Highly reccomended (and no-one paid me to say that).

The Complete Idiot's Guide To Personality Profiles

This book is absolutely WONDERFUL!
I recently bought this book and have since then been unable to put it down! I love psychology, and this covers my favorite aspects of it: Freudian psychology, behaviorism, personality traits, etc. It includes sections on schools of thought and their founders, personality disorders, psychological tests, schemas, a whole chapter on self-esteem, states of being, addictive personalities, and even changing one's personality. It is so in-depth, easy to understand, and down-to-earth. I recommend this to anyone interested in psychology, personality, and how the mind functions.
